Lara Croft back for Valentine's Day with Tomb Raider IV-Vi Remastered

Lara Croft back for Valentine's Day with Tomb Raider IV-Vi Remastered

A year after the release of the first Tomb Raider I-III Remastered compilation, Aspyr invites us to spend a second Valentine's Day in the company of the most charismatic and badass of adventurers: Lara Croft. This February 14th, we will have the opportunity to discover (or rediscover) the adventures of Lara in Tomb Raider IV: The Final Revelation (1999), Tomb Raider V: In the Footsteps of Lara Croft (2000) and Tomb Raider VI: The Dark Angel (2003) in a remastered version with a lot of new features and improvements!

Lara back on top?

Despite its many qualities, the first Remastered trilogy of 2024 had a bitter taste, largely because of a few small bugs and the feeling that a few more weeks of development were clearly missing to perfectly polish the title. With this second compilation, the Aspyr teams and in particular through Matthew Ray, manager at Aspyr, who assured fans that the studio was not going to repeat the same mistakes and offer a perfect game, from its launch.

It must be admitted that the ambitions seem even higher for this second compilation with even more new features and improvements. Aspyr will improve the photo mode and even add a video mode called Flyby Camera Maker. This is a tool that allows players to create their own dynamic and cinematic shots. Via this new feature, you will be able to create a path for a mobile camera through any scene, opening up a world of creative possibilities.

The tool is extremely easy to use since you simply place up to 20 cameras along the path you want. Then, refine your shots by scrolling through the cameras you've placed and adjusting settings like field of view, zoom, or movement speed. And finally, all you have to do is press the Play button!

Among other new features, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered will feature an ammo counter that was absent in the original games. With the remasters, you have an on-screen display that tells you how much ammo is left for each weapon in your arsenal, so you’re always ready for battle.

To improve replayability, Aspyr will offer the ability to skip cutscenes and especially dialogues so you can play through games without losing a single second.

This compilation will also offer a wave of new animations never seen before for these three games, such as:

  • Slide To Run: the ability to continue your run after reaching the end of a slope, by simply pushing your joystick (or up button) forward at the end of it.
  • Hang on a ledge (behind): Press the Action button (for Tank controls) or Secondary button (for Modern controls) when you’re near a ledge behind Lara to have her slide down safely safety.
  • Hang on a ledge (front): While walking, press the Action button (for Tank controls) or Secondary button (for Modern controls) when you are near a ledge in front of Lara to safely get her down.
  • Turn around in place: While walking, press the roll button when Lara is stopped to turn around. This only works with Modern controls!

Finally, Aspyr also confirms the return of the famous cheat codes. Whether it's for infinite ammo, passing levels, or other features, all the codes that were present in the original versions will be available.

Other improvements will be specific to certain games and in particular to the Angel of Darkness with a lot of little things like the confirmation of dual weapons (absent from the original game) or the reintroduction of Kurtis' powers and his chirugai, the return of the training area and much more!

In addition to these new features, this second compilation Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered will offer you all the improvements already available in the first collection from last year including improved graphics, with the possibility to switch to the original games with a single click and more than 150 new trophies/achievements. Among the new features, all the features present in the first compilation will be back with the possibility of choosing between the original or modern controls or the appearance of a health bar for bosses.
