Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: play it well before the outing, here is how to do

Fandoms of aviation games do not have a wide choice of notable experiences. If you are looking for an action-oriented title, it is better to turn to Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, even if the title is starting to date a little. On the other hand, the game to favor for a relaxing and contemplative experience is undoubtedly Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The title released in 2020 on PC and a year later on Xbox Series (in the Game Pass) allows you to travel the world aboard multiple models of aircraft. An improved version, soberly titled Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, is due to be released on November 19. You can test the game starting this October by signing up for the alpha... provided you have a powerful enough PC.

A technical alpha of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in October, you can try to sign up

Microsoft announces the organization of a technical alpha of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PC during an entire weekend in October, without specifying which one. It will be used to collect player feedback on the content of the title. French developer Asobo and Microsoft want to test the display of air traffic and weather data, mission management and career mode progression. Moreover, the developers ask players to especially try the Career and Challenge modes, even if free flight will also be available.

“The number of places for the technical alpha is limited and not all people who register may be selected to participate. Those selected will be informed by email to their contact address. The technical alpha will be available for a limited period (approximately 2 to 3 days) and will no longer be accessible to at the end of this period,” states the official Flight Simulator website.

Make sure you meet the PC requirements before signing up, because unsurprisingly, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is particularly resource-intensive. The game requires at least an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-6800K processor. Your GPU should be at least a Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 970. Additionally, the minimum configuration requires 4GB of VRAM and 16GB of RAM, which is half the recommended configuration.

To get the best possible experience, you need an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel i7-14700K CPU and a Radeon RX 7900 XT or GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 also requires 12GB of VRAM and 64GB of RAM in this configuration. Regardless of your hardware, you need 50 GB of free space to install the game. Microsoft will communicate the exact date of the technical alpha weekend shortly.
