Microsoft will remove its Xbox Game Pass application on mobile

Microsoft has just announced the upcoming removal of its Xbox Game Pass mobile app. The Redmond firm's goal is to simplify access to Xbox games on iOS by merging the Game Pass app with the Xbox app. Thus, everything will be centralized in a single application for greater simplicity.

À Starting in November, the entire Xbox ecosystem will be centralized in a single application. The Xbox Game Pass app will be removed and merged with the Xbox app, bringing together all Xbox features in one place. It will be possible to access the online store, retrieve your screenshots or install content remotely, but also to access new features like notifications on your wish list.

This is a wise choice on Microsoft's part, it will unify the entire ecosystem on a single app. Unfortunately, for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, it will still not be possible to play in the Cloud via the application and you will still have to go through a browser to take advantage of this feature.

As a reminder, Microsoft is still in conflict with Apple to deploy the Cloud on iOS. Despite new restrictions that are forcing the firm to give Apple some ground on its App Store, in order to facilitate the deployment of certain apps (particularly related to Cloud Gaming). However, several companies, including Microsoft, are criticizing Apple for continuing the blockade.

Clearly, Apple's conditions for authorizing the Cloud are absurd and would not be profitable, preventing Microsoft from deploying its xCloud on iOS. In a recent British study, the Redmond firm opposed the decisions and conditions of the App Store. An investigation is underway to determine whether Apple continues its fight despite devious means, or not.
