Nintendo is uncompromising when it believes that companies or individuals are harming its business. The Kyoto firm struck a major blow earlier this year by obtaining the disappearance of Yuzu, the most famous emulator of Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo recently took on Palworld and accused its developer PocketPair of patent infringement, without giving further details. This time, the legal department of the Japanese company is suing Jesse “Every Game Guru” Keighin. The streamer has once again exposed himself by live streaming content from multiple pirated games.
Nintendo Sues Streamer Who Streams Copyrighted Games
Jesse Keighin, aka Every Game Guru, is a well-known figure in the Nintendo community. He regularly live streams games several days before their launch, causing significant harm to the Kyoto-based company. Nintendo filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court of Colorado on November 6.
“Starting in 2022, the defendant has been streaming "Keighin has streamed unauthorized portions of at least ten leaked Nintendo games before they were released, and more than fifty times in total. Nintendo has filed dozens of Section 512 takedown notices to have Keighin's illegal streams removed, and recently, several platforms, including YouTube and Twitch, have shut down his channels due to copyright infringement," Nintendo says in its complaint.
That doesn't stop Jesse Keighin from continuing to illegally stream copyrighted games live. He has many channels on which he can repeat the offense, making it very difficult for platforms such as Twitch, Kickstarter, and YouTube.
On October 24, he even sent a letter to Nintendo in which he bragged about being able to continue illegally streaming games well before their release. The streamer notably played Super Mario Party Jamboree, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, The Legends of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and Super Mario RPG live several days before their release.
