After the (big) blunder by the manufacturer Satisfye, the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to be revealed. One leak leading to another, the Chinese accessory makers seem to have spread the word, abandoning the idea of any suspense. Despite a design that is noticeably similar to that of its first hybrid console, Nintendo seems to have bet on some interesting new features, which should for the moment be taken with a pinch of salt. Let's take stock.
A bigger screen
This is what jumps out at you when you look at the comparisons of the Switch 2 leaks. Compared to Nintendo's first hybrid console, the manufacturer's new gaming iteration is a few centimeters larger, with thinner bezels. A slight disappointment is that no screen upgrades are expected, and you'll have to settle for LCD technology. If all these leaks turn out to be true, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a console close to its current generation, with proportions closer to machines like the Steam Deck. According to the latest news, the console will be almost 30 cm wide compared to 24 cm for the first Switch.
Magnetic Joy-Con
To avoid repeating the fiasco of the Joy-Con drifts, Nintendo has clearly taken the time to rework the attachment of its removable controllers. Thus, the new generation Joy-Con will be able to be attached to the console via a system of magnets. Not only does this new feature promise to be much more practical, but it also guarantees that players will have to buy new Joy-Con to play on the second generation console. A sort of side trigger will probably make it easier to detach the controllers, to switch from portable mode to TV mode.
A mysterious button on the front
Another new feature visible on the 3D renderings of the console, we can note the presence of a mysterious C button under the Home button. For the moment, it is impossible to know what the latter refers to. However, we should expect it to be one of the flagship features of Nintendo's new console. We could therefore expect the arrival of new community options, for which the Switch had until now been reluctant.
Nintendo still aims to present its new hardware by the end of the fiscal year, scheduled for next March.
