While the thunder of the Nintendo Switch 2 at CES 2025 is still rumbling, the Kyoto firm is proving once again that it will not be destabilized. Gamers around the world are waiting for the manufacturer to react and reveal its future console: but it is not happening. After a trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X whose publication notification must have startled more than one impatient gamer, Nintendo has just made the most improbable announcement. What could be better than a tweet with the keywords “console” and “2025” to make us miss a heartbeat. But it's still a failure: the saga continues and the Switch 2 is overtaken by the Game Boy.
No, the manufacturer is not going to release a re-edition of its flagship portable console, but we are not far from it. The partnership between Nintendo and LEGO is intensifying with the reveal of a Game Boy set that will be marketed next October. The short teaser doesn't reveal much more than the console's buttons and the kit's exit window, but we have to admit that the timing is laughable.
Does Nintendo have any other unlikely surprises up its sleeve before moving on to the Switch 2? At this rate, we're not safe from a new version of the Alarmo alarm clock, who knows. As a reminder, the LEGO Nintendo range was recently enriched with a The Legend of Zelda set representing the Venerable Deku Tree, as well as LEGO Mario Kart accessories. Now that the NES and Game Boy exist in Danish brick versions, let's hope that other legendary consoles from the Kyoto firm will complete the collection.
