Nvidia, a graphics card manufacturer, has announced the availability of its AI model designed for humanoid robots, the Isaac GR00T N1. Some are already using them.
We will all soon have a personal robot assistant at home. Of course, it will depend on their price, but in terms of feasibility, it is no longer science fiction. So much so that Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang announced that “the age of general robotics is here“. The manufacturer doesn't just make graphics cards. It has long been interested in artificial intelligence and it was only a matter of time before it offered a model for humanoid robots.

So here is Isaac Gr00t N1, an open source AI model that all robot developers can use if they wish. And several have not been asked twice: Boston Dynamics, the creator of the Atlas robot, Neura Robotics and Agility Robotics have already had access to it. Just like 1X Technologies and its Neo Gamma robot. The particularity Isaac Gr00t N1 is its architecture based on two systems acting in concert.
Nvidia makes its AI for humanoid robots available to everyone
In summary, “System 1” is a “fast-action model reflecting human reflexes and intuition.” “System 2” is a “slow-thinking model promoting thoughtful and methodical decision-making.” System 2 analyzes its environment and the instructions received to plan actions. System 1 then takes charge of translating these plans into movements, in other words, making the robot act.
The company 1X Technologies gives an example of what Nvidia's AI allows. Its Neo Gamma robot, visible below, is capable of vacuuming, picking up your shopping bags and placing them on the table, pouring you a bottle of wine, putting your keys where you usually put them, straightening a painting, cleaning the windows... In short: it frees you from many tasks that we would rather do without. More than wait until it becomes available to as many people as possible.
