It's the gamers' favorite event. Like every year, Paris Game Week is getting ready to be in full swing at the end of October. After a Restart edition in 2022 following the Covid-19 pandemic and a Next Level edition in 2023, 2024 is no exception and promises to establish the show as a leader in the field. This time, PGW is inviting its visitors from October 23 to 27 for a week full of surprises. The Palais des Congrès de Paris Expo Porte de Versailles will be the scene of numerous esports competitions – League of Legends, Valorant, Trackmania, Rocket League… – and will even host the French Blindtest Cup.
But loyal visitors come above all for one thing: to try out the latest innovations from their favorite studios and manufacturers. Every year, the show fights to obtain the support of the biggest players in the industry, but this 2024 edition marks a real turning point. The organizers of Paris Games Week have just confirmed the presence of the trio of giants: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo, for the entire duration of the show. This is therefore the first time that an event of this kind has managed to bring together the three manufacturers for 5 consecutive days. This great feat is already the pride of the PGW, which intends to weigh in against Gamescom, its German neighbor.
What should we expect from Paris Games Week 2024?
On site, the various manufacturers have prepared something to captivate their players. According to the press release organizers, Nintendo and Xbox will rely on gaming spaces to get their hands on their latest productions, while PlayStation “will offer a totally new immersive experience“. To find out what's going on, we'll have to wait until the show launches in three weeks. The general director of Paris Games Week, Nicolas Vignolles, has nevertheless shared a few words following this announcement:
“The confirmed presence of PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo has Paris Games Week 2024 is a strong signal, confirming France's position as a major player in video games, and consolidating the PGW as an unmissable global event. This edition will offer a unique experience mixing video games, pop culture, manga, esports, cosplay and retrogaming. It will celebrate more than ever the strength of the bond that unites video game fans with their favorite games.”
Will Paris Games Week end up becoming an international event around which manufacturers and studios will organize their conferences? The video game industry has yet to find a replacement for E3, and the French event could well be a serious candidate. Maybe we will end up saying “Paris is the new Los Angeles“. Hope springs eternal.
