PlayStation presents its 30 biggest video games for its 30ᵉ anniversary

Nostalgia is taking over the PlayStation ecosystem in this last month of 2024 on the occasion of the Japanese brand's 30th anniversary. PS5 players can enjoy the PS1 intro sequence when starting their machine and set the interface to the colors of one of Sony's old home consoles.

The firm is taking advantage of the very last moments of 2024 to celebrate (probably) this exceptional anniversary one last time. PlayStation has just posted a 30-second video showcasing 30 of the greatest games from its 30-year history on its X account. Warning, sensitive souls may be overcome with strong emotion.

PlayStation highlights 30 of the greatest games from its 20-year history

Is PlayStation trying to make people cry with the video posted on X? A 30-second video shows 30 games that have marked its story launched by the famous PS1 released on December 3, 1994 in Japan. The video starts with an excerpt from Crash Bandicoot followed by the famous scene of the zombie dog going through the window in the first Resident Evil.

We then see a Solid Snake who has just arrived on Shadow Moses being spotted by one of the first surveillance cameras in Metal Gear Solid. Obviously, the video also highlights honoring legendary PS1 titles like Gran Turismo, Tomb Raider and Tekken.

Then we move up a console generation to the PS2, the best-selling console of all time. Kingdom Hearts, GTA: Vice City and Shadow of the Colossus are in the spotlight. PlayStation's video also features footage from The Last of Us, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn, and FF7 Rebirth.

The Game Awards' 2024 GOTY, Astro Bot, also appears. Note that all of the games featured in the video were Sony console exclusives when they launched on PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5. We now find almost all of them on other platforms, except for the most recent ones like Astro Bot or Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (planned for January 23, 2025 on PC). In any case, in just 30 seconds, Sony manages to remind us of the place it occupies in the video game landscape.
