It was one of the most anticipated anime of the year and it delivered its first act in full this Saturday, March 22, with the broadcast of its eleventh episode, synonymous with the conclusion of its first part. Sakamoto Days is for the moment over and the least we can say is that Taro Sakamoto's small screen adventures have given off an impression that is both promising and uneven, as much due to a lack of pace as by comparison with the source product (and an animation that divides some), the manga published in France by Glénat and whose next volume, the 17th, will be released on April 16, 2025.
For eleven episodes, the humor established by Yuto Suzuki is very present, with the main arcs (some episodes and meetings being a little rushed for our taste) of the manga. We therefore find Taro Sakamoto, a former killer reconverted as manager of a convenience store alongside his wife, the reason why he turned his back on his life as an assassin and his little girl. Very quickly, Sakamoto sees his inner circle expand, with the arrival of Shin, a telepathic killer who will side with him, and Lu Shaotang, a girl from a Triad family specializing in martial arts. Together, they will form a real team, particularly formidable and complementary.

If at the beginning, the first episodes are just a pretext to introduce new members (Shin and Lu in particular) within of the Sakamoto family, things quickly get complicated with the introduction of the Order of Assassins, a price on Taro Sakamoto's head and the rise to power of Slur, a psychopathic killer who forces the Order to go into combat. If, as indicated above, the first part suffers from a lack of rhythm, it seriously gains in interest towards its end. Enough to guarantee us a totally stunning second part?
It will not be long before arrive since as planned, it will be available this year and more precisely next July, still on Netflix. A first visual was even unveiled during the panel dedicated to Sakamoto Days during AnimeJapan 2025 which took place last weekend. The opportunity, moreover, to reveal that the character of Gaku, who will make his debut in this part 2, will be voiced by the actor Koki Uchiyama. Come on, only a few more months of patience for the continuation of the adventures of Taro Sakamoto.
