Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: New images reveal a thinner design than ever

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: New images reveal a thinner design than ever

As competition in the foldable smartphone market intensifies, the Oppo Find N5 not to mention it, Samsung seems to want to mark a turning point with its next Galaxy Z Fold 7. According to unofficial renders that were recently released, the device would not only be thinner than its predecessors, but it would also offer a larger screen and improved performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite "for Galaxy".

A thinner design and a larger screen

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: New images reveal a thinner design than ever

According to images published by Onleaks and Android Headlines, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would adopt an even thinner design, with a thickness of only 9.5 mm when folded and only 4.5 mm when open. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12.1 mm folded and 5.6 mm unfolded. The dimensions of the Z Fold 7 would make it one of the thinnest foldable smartphones on the market.

The internal screen would go to 8.2 inches, compared to 7.6 inches on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, while the external screen would measure 6.5 inches. This gain in display surface could improve the user experience, making navigation and multitasking even easier. The general format of the Fold 7 should evolve slightly, with dimensions of 58.4 x 143.1 x 4.5 mm when open.

From power to resell, but not only

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 would feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Galaxy, as on the Galaxy S25, thus abandoning the Exynos chips developed internally. A winning choice given the excellent performance of the Qualcomm chip.

On the autonomy, the battery should keep the same capacity as that of the Fold 6, that is to say 4400 mAh. On the other hand, Samsung could integrate a main sensor of 200 Mpx (50 Mpx currently) to improve the quality of the photos, although the configuration of the other sensors is still vague.

After a few years of resting on its laurels, Samsung is now moving forward at a forced march in an increasingly competitive folding market. The race for thinness seems to be on, but this should not be to the detriment of performance, heating, the device and its autonomy. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are expected to the summer of 2025, the period during which the Korean giant usually presents its new foldables.
