Sifif: two good news for the film PlayStation

The video game SIFU will soon be adapted for the cinema and the film is finally giving some news. Announced in 2022, it has been very discreet until now, enjoying a development in the shadows, far from the expectations of the public. It resurfaces today to give us some information on its scenario and its production team. Deadline reports that the writing is progressing and that it has been entrusted to TS Nowlin.

We owe him in particular the film series Labyrinth, Pacific Rim: Uprising and Adam Through Time. The filmmaker will be well accompanied since it seems that Chad Stahelski, a famous name for the John Wick films, among others, is also joining the bandwagon with the team of his production company 87Eleven Entertainment. This information remains to be confirmed with Sony via an official communication. This would make a lot of sense, however, given that this company will also be producing the adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima for the cinema, another work by PlayStation Productions.

While the former has no notable experience in martial arts films but rather in the field of science fiction, the latter is particularly known for his action films with spectacular special effects. The duo should therefore be perfect for the adaptation of the game SIFU, which is based on punchy gameplay, with a hint of the supernatural. It should be remembered that the main character, driven by vengeance, has the ability to to resurrect, gaining age but also experience after each death.

More PlayStation projects to come

Sony is determined to dominate the small world of video game adaptations. Since they have become legion, the firm has confirmed many projects in addition to having created a label dedicated to the production of its films and series. SIFU is only one work among many others, and not even the most anticipated of the lot. We remember the series God of War or the series Horizon which are also in preparation at Amazon Prime Video and Netflix respectively, although the latter is currently at a standstill.

For the moment, we do not know at what stage of development SIFU is but hearing about the project reassures us that it has not been abandoned. We still need a casting before determining any release date in theaters. Let's be patient.
