Speakers to increase the autonomy of electric cars? Here is the explanation for this amazing solution

A British company claims to have found a surprising solution to improve the autonomy of electric vehicles. Thanks to ultra-light electrostatic speakers, it would be possible to gain several kilometers without touching the battery.

Autonomy remains one of the most scrutinized criteria by drivers of electric cars. Manufacturers are doubling their efforts to optimize their models, whether by improving aerodynamics, reducing weight or developing more efficient batteries. At the same time, the issue of repair costs worries many buyers, because spare parts and maintenance for electric vehicles are often more expensive than for thermal models.

But beyond autonomy and maintenance, motorists are also looking for innovations that improve their comfort. Sound insulation, audio system quality and customization of the on-board ambience play a key role in driving pleasure. This is precisely where a British company, Warwick Acoustics, offers a solution that combines energy efficiency and improved acoustic comfort. Its new electrostatic loudspeakers could both reduce power consumption and provide a unique sound experience for passengers.

These lighter, more energy-efficient speakers improve the range of electric cars

Warwick Acoustics claims that its electrostatic speakers consume 90% less energy than a traditional audio system. Unlike conventional speakers, which use coils and magnets, these speakers operate using an ultra-thin membrane suspended between two electrified metal plates. This process would reduce energy loss, produce clearer sound and reduce the vehicle's overall weight. The company estimates that these speakers could increase the range of an electric vehicle by 20 kilometers on a full charge.

In addition to the impact on range, they create individual sound bubbles for each passenger. Each person can listen to their own music or make a call without disturbing the other occupants of the vehicle. The technology could be integrated into a production model as early as this year, with rumors suggesting a first appearance in the upcoming electric Range Rover. Whether this innovation will convince manufacturers and drivers remains to be seen, but it opens the way to new solutions to make electric cars more efficient and enjoyable to drive.
