While a few hours ago, we learned through CharlieINTEL that the next Call of Duty, expected for November 2025, should still be a cross-gen title, available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, but also on PS4 and Xbox One, here is already new information, but on the Call of Duty of next year.
It is once again TheGhostOfHope, an insider specializing in the Call of Duty license who offers us his first details. And good news, the Call of Duty of 2026 will not be released on PS4 and Xbox One. Better yet, the insider confirms that this new opus is well developed on Xbox Prime development kits, the next generation of Xbox expected for November 2026.
Call of Duty Next-Gen in 2026?
At the beginning of January, TheGhostOfHope was the first to mention the new generation of Xbox consoles, codenamed Xbox Prime, and its possible release in November 2026, with a new Call of Duty installment as the launch game. Today, the insider is at it again and is giving us new information.
The latter confirms that the next Call of Duty (from 2026) is indeed in development on the development kits of the next generation Xbox. As a result, the «Call of» of 2026 will not be released on PS4 and Xbox One. TheGhostOfHope confirms that in terms of the user interface, there shouldn't be any major changes, the latter should be similar to those of the older games in the franchise.
On the other hand, this new Call Of Duty should offer a new, completely revised graphics engine, to correct the visual issues encountered on Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
Finally, V.3 of Warzone seems currently under threat. Activison wants to wait for the return of Verdansk, expected in April 2025 to see if the online game finds its players and its success. Otherwise, there is a chance that the service will not be renewed on the next Call Of Duty and the next Xbox. The game would still be expected on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, in addition to the new Xbox Prime.
