The Elder Scrolls VI: You will be able to create your own NPC (non -playable character)

Were you waiting for information on The Elder Scrolls VI? Well, here it is. Well, almost. Nearly seven years after the game was announced (it was at E3 2018), Bethesda is once again officially communicating by launching a rather original contest, but for a good cause. The American publisher is offering fans the chance to create their own NPC (non-playable character) who will appear in the final version of the game when it is released... in several years.

It was through its social networks that Bethesda announced an official contest in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic association. The concept is simple: Bethesda will hold a sort of auction soon and the fan who makes the biggest donation will be able to create an NPC (non-playable character) for the sixth installment of the saga.

When you put it like that, on paper, it doesn't sound very good. But, there is a great action behind all this. Because yes, the money raised during the auction will not go into Bethesda's pocket (and therefore Microsoft's) to help with development. But it will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic association which is an association that works to fulfill the wishes and dreams of sick children aged 3 to 17.

Bethesda does not specify, however, whether the NPC in question will be important and whether he will have the opportunity to offer us a quest. Or whether he will be a random NPC lost in the middle of the world of The Elder Scrolls VI.

In any case, we will have to be patient. Announced at E32018, we still haven't had any information or new images around The Elder Scrolls VI since. In 2022, Todd Howard confirmed that the game was not the studio's priority and that all resources were being focused on Starfield.

In 2023, just before the release of Starfield, the same Todd Howard confirmed that the studio's next project would indeed be The Elder Scrolls VI, but that the transition would be smooth, since other projects were planned for Starfield including a major update day in 2024.

Today, we can imagine that the game has moved into the "full production" phase, but we probably won't have to wait until the end of the PS5/Xbox Series X/S generation in two or three years.
