According to the latest rumors, Samsung intends to make sure that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 supports the S Pen touch stylus. It would be different from the one we know on one specific point.
S Pen or not S Pen? Rumors are rife about the future of the touch stylus launched by Samsung in 2011 with the very first Galaxy Note. Although the range has not existed since 2020, the accessory has not disappeared and can still be found today on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It is also compatible with other smartphones from the South Korean brand, such as the foldable Z Fold and Z Flip. However, rumors about the future Galaxy Z Fold 7 are blowing hot and cold on this subject.
Some say that the Z Fold 7 would no longer support the S Pen. They argue that the abandonment of certain features in that of the S25 Ultra is a sign that Samsung no longer wants to bother with the stylus outside of these models. Others, on the contrary, think that the S Pen will work with the Z Fold 7, but that the desire to refine the mobile will have consequences on its design. Another leaker today evokes the same idea.
The S Pen of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would not resemble the current version of the touch stylus
To make the Z Fold 7 thinner, Samsung could abandon the EMR technology present in the S Pen since the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It requires a relatively large chip behind the screen of the device. The stylus would then switch to AES, the system used by the Apple Pencil. Result: the S Pen would be thicker than its previous iterations, which the Internet user PandaFlashPro also puts forward.
This may seem strange at a time when manufacturers seem obsessed with thinness, but since the stylus cannot be integrated into the Z Fold 7, it would not have an impact on it. A thicker S Pen would not necessarily be a bad thing by facilitating its overall handling. If Samsung does not upset its usual schedule, the presentation of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 should take place in the summer 2025.
