Available since November 7, the PS5 Pro is at the center of many discussions and unleashes passions. On the one hand, many players find its price far too high, especially compared to the performance offered by the console. On the other hand, some players find this normal and are not particularly shocked by this price of 800 euros (excluding reader and vertical support). To date, the PS5 Pro is indeed the most powerful console in history, but also the most expensive. What does Sony think about all this?
The PS5 Pro has a better start than the PS4 Pro
A few days after the release of the PS5 Pro, Hiroki Totoki, who oversees all financial aspects of Sony, spoke out about the many controversies and controversies surrounding the announcement and release of the console. With a standard price of 800 euros, for a digital-only console, there is enough to make your teeth grind. Add an additional 30 euros for the purchase of the vertical base and an additional 120 euros for the addition of a disc player, which is almost out of stock everywhere due to lack of supply. In total, the PS5 Pro thus comes to 950 euros “complete”.
According to Hiroki Totoki, the price of the PS5 Pro has caused a stir, but overall, it is not a brake on the console”s success”. Quite the contrary. The launch of the PS5 Pro would be a success, with higher figures on the launch of the PS4 Pro in 2016.
So of course, Totoki doesn't affirm anything and remains rather evasive. And, unsurprisingly either, Sony has not yet revealed precise figures. On the other hand, it is quite funny to see the firm so confident only a few days after the release of the console.
See you early 2025 to take stock with the company's new fiscal balance sheet to, hopefully, have more details on all this. A few days ago, in its latest report, Sony proudly announced that it had sold more than 65 million PS5s since the machine's launch in November 2020.
