Available since the beginning of the year in America (and since this summer in Europe), Apple's Vision Pro headset has not met with the usual critical and commercial success of the apple company. It must be said that with a base price of 3999 euros, there is something to think about. For its part, Sony's PlayStation VR2 is preparing (already) to celebrate its second anniversary. But for it too, success does not seem to be there. The fault mainly of a relatively high price of 600 euros (not including the price of the console) and above all, a lack of support from Sony with relatively few major games compatible with the headset.
In any case, Sony and Apple seem to be opting for a collaboration very soon, making the PSVR2 controllers compatible with the Vision Pro.
PlayStation VR2 controllers compatible with the Vision Pro
According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple reportedly entered into discussions with Sony earlier this year to enable PSVR Sense 2 controller compatibility on the Vision Pro. Also according to Bloomberg, Apple has reportedly reached out to other third-party developers to offer third-party controller support for their VR games.
This move is a good move by Apple, as it will truly transform the Vision Pro into a true virtual reality headset designed for gaming. Bloomberg confirms that this compatibility PSVR2 controllers were supposed to be announced a few weeks ago. However, the announcement was delayed for an undisclosed reason.
Another issue (which could be the reason for the announcement delay) is that Sony does not currently offer the PSVR2 controllers for sale separately. At the moment, the only way to get a pair of PSVR Sense 2s is by purchasing a PlayStation VR2 headset. Once the announcement is made official (in the coming weeks), Sony should allow all players to be able to equip themselves with PSVR2 controllers without necessarily having to buy the headset.
