The PS3 games approaching on PS5?

The PS3 games approaching on PS5?

Will we soon be able to play the greatest classic PS3 games, directly on our PS5? This is in any case what we can deduce with the latest update on the Implicit Conversions website, Sony's partner studio for the development of PS1 and PS2 game emulations on PlayStation Plus. Apparently, the next goal would be to offer PS3 games in the subscription service catalog.

The PS3 games approaching on PS5?

Since the arrival of the new PlayStation Plus formula, Sony has been offering its subscribers to access a catalog of games available at no additional cost to be able to play them unlimited, a bit like the Netflix catalog with many films, series, documentaries available.

On PS Plus, Sony offers a first list of PS4 and PS5 games. Then, for Premium subscribers, an even more complete catalog with PS1, PS2, PS3 and even PSP games. On the other hand, for a few months, Sony has been in partnership with Implicit Conversions, a Canadian studio whose main objective is the preservation of video games by offering the possibility to everyone to be able to taste the joys of retro-gaming, on our current consoles.

Indeed, Implicit Conversions offers an emulation solution to port old games to current consoles with graphical improvements, the addition of trophies, and new features. Thus, in recent months, several PS1 and PS2 games have arrived on PS Plus and are now categorized as "PS5 games" since they benefit from many improvements.

Until now, the studio focused only on adapting PS1, PS2 and PSP games. However, a few hours ago now, Implicit Conversions updated the roadmap of its Syrup Engine and hinted that PS3 games would soon benefit from the improvements made by the studio.

Thus, this could indicate that in the near future, the first PS3 games could arrive on PS5 and in PS Plus in order to be able to be emulated on PS5 and run natively on Sony's latest console. We're keeping our fingers crossed, although for the moment, this remains a goal of the studio and things are not yet completely done!
