In the last days of 2024, new rumors seemed to confirm that the Nintendo Switch2, which should be officially unveiled this month by Nintendo, for a release expected between March and May 2025, could benefit from much more generous power than one might think. Today, we learn (still not through leaks and rumors) that this famous power could be similar to the characteristics of a PS4 Pro, the old console from Sony and PlayStation released in November 2016.
The Switch 2 at the level of the PS4 Pro?
Unlike the rumors of the last few days, this time, the source is quite notable since it is Tom Warren, the journalist of The Verge as well as John Linneman, a member of the YouTube channel Digital Foundry. First, we have a tweet from Tom Warren who ironizes on the many recent rumors since apparently, the famous «Nintendo Switch 2» would not be more powerful than a PS4 Pro.
A tweet that was not long in coming to make a lot of people react including John Linneman who is part of the team of experts of the Digital Foundry channel. The latter allows himself to provide some clarifications explaining that this is not really true, since thanks to the new more modern NVIDIA architecture, this Switch 2 could thus offer more interesting performances than the PS4 Pro. Although in portable mode, the console is still limited.
Unfortunately, the two men do not give more information on their sources and on the things they were able to hear. The Switch 2 could therefore benefit from a fairly close power, but nevertheless superior to a PS4 Pro, but would still have to make concessions on its "portable" part.
In any case, we should soon be fixed since Nintendo should lift the veil on this new machine as early as January 2025.
