The Twitch Cat has an airplane made a plane in Flight Simulator

The “barrel roll” aerobatic maneuver is not really recommended for a 250-ton airliner. This is the challenge that streamer Rami Ismail, co-founder of Vambeer, an independent Dutch video game development studio, set himself. However, he did not carry out the maneuver alone, since he called on no fewer than ten people who, via chat, typed commands to control all the functions of the Boeing 787-10 “Dreamliner”, which was able to achieve the feat. The plane, which took off from Koscaronice International Airport in Slovakia, flew for an hour.

This barrel roll was performed via Twitch Plays, a Twitch feature that allows viewers to input game commands via chat. For example, if someone enters “! Throttleset 100”, they set the plane's throttle to 100. This isn't the first time that “Twitch Plays” has demonstrated the ability some users to collaborate optimally. In 2014, the “Twitch Plays Pokemon” event allowed well-coordinated fans to defeat all generations of the Pokemon series. Too bad for Rami Ismail and his viewers, the feat achieved on Flight Simulator narrowly missed the Chat’s Choice Awards 2020 organized by Twitch to reward the best streamers.

Released on August 18 on Windows, Flight Simulator distinguished itself by its technical prowess, particularly in terms of graphics. The game also takes advantage of satellite imagery and OpenStreetMap data, which has allowed the modeling of nearly two million cities and 37,000 airports. As a result, the game gives the ability to fly across the entire surface of the globe with a level of detail never before achieved. For console players, Flight Simulator is expected to arrive soon on Xbox One.
