An Xbox 360 software hack can unlock consoles, even those whose motherboards are resistant to RGH and JTAG hardware hacks. The process is fairly simple, but it takes time and must be repeated. every time you start it up.
Last year, Microsoft shut down the Xbox 360's online store, rendering the most popular console in its history obsolete. The device is still usable and players have access to previously purchased games, but the experience has become very limited. It is not possible to acquire new titles or DLC, and the Xbox 360 is no longer able to play movies and series from its multimedia content catalog.
The solution to use your console as you wish is to use piracy. Until now, two methods predominated: RGH and JTAG. For both, it is necessary to open your console to tinker with the hardware. RGH requires a specific chip, while JTAG is based on solders on the motherboard. The manipulation is not within everyone's reach and the assembly can affect the performance of the hacked Xbox 360.
BadUpdate, a limited Xbox 360 software hack
But now a new method has arrived, and it is much simpler to implement. As you will see, it still requires a certain amount of patience and it is not necessarily the most effective hack of the console for regular and long-term use. With the BadUpdate solution, you only need a USB key to hack the Xbox 360, at the software level. It allows access to Xbox 360 Homebrew, a store containing games, applications, emulators, and customization elements, all free of charge.
Hacking the Xbox 360 via BadUpdate works on all console models, even the Winchester version (the latest release), which is the most resistant to mods. The device only needs to be updated to the latest available version (17559). The hack requires either the game Rock Band Blitz (trial version or full game) or Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (in NTSC or PAL formats).
The channel Modern Vintage Gamer has managed to hack an Xbox 360 this way, but specifies that the reliability is not really there and that the procedure is quite long to carry out. Above all, it is not a definitive hack: the operation must be repeated each time the console is restarted. To learn more about how BadUpdate works, we invite you to visit the project's GitHub page.
