The Nintendo Switch 2 will undoubtedly be one of the most important launches in the history of Nintendo consoles. The major update of the first iteration, launched on March 3, 2017, 8 years ago, has been regularly mentioned in the press in recent years.

The brand finally showed a brief preview of the portable console on June 16, 2025, suggesting an imminent commercial launch later this year. Nintendo, however, has not announced any official release date (beyond a second presentation in early April), nor a price – leaving it open to speculation.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming in a few months and will probably be more expensive

Reputable analyst Hideki Yasuda, however, believes he is getting closer to reality thanks to regular contact with Nintendo employees. He explains in an article published on Bloomberg that the selling price of the Nintendo Switch 2 will a priori be higher than that of the first generation.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo went ahead with a price of $499," explains Hideki Yasuda, who estimates the final price at above $400 in any case. As for When it hits the shelves, the analyst thinks the wait won't be very long. According to him, it will be released this summer, sometime in June.

The firm is predicting significant sales volumes for this almost guaranteed success. Two other analysts believe the Japanese manufacturer could sell between 6,000,000 and 8,000,000 units upon release. The total could reach 20,000,000 units sold by the end of the year.

These are rather credible figures, especially since we expect a rather solid range of games from the first day of release. Industry sources are talking about the arrival of a new Mario Kart and a new 3D Mario. In addition to a few blockbusters like Call of Duty, whose name has been popping up in recent weeks.

Of course, nothing is official from Nintendo yet – so this information should be taken with a grain of salt.
