Bandai Namco is currently celebrating, a little early, the fortieth anniversary of the release in arcades of the iconic game Pac-Man. The famous yellow devourer was first revealed in July 1980 in Japan. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Bandai Namco has teamed up with the online sales giant's new video game studio, Amazon Games, to create Pac-Man Live Studio. This new free game will not be downloadable but will soon be accessible directly from the official dedicated channel on Twitch. The idea is to facilitate streaming but also cooperation and the sharing of creations. Indeed, Pac-Man Live Studio has two advantages – in addition to the classic mode, which lets the player try his luck in the original 1980 version. The first allows several players to form a team and try to survive, each in turn, typical haunted mazes or those invented by other players. It is enough for a single player to pass a level for the entire team to move on to the next one. The second mode gives the opportunity to those interested to create their own mazes and share them with the rest of the community on Twitch.
In addition, “Bandai Namco will offer new Pac-Man video games in partnership with Amazon Games”, guarantees the Japanese firm in a press release. This collaboration will also continue with new interactive stories for children on Alexa, the Pac-Man Stories. And it's not over! This celebration of the 40th anniversary of Pac-Man will continue with the marketing of several special arcade machines including “a special Tastemakers 1UP machine (…) followed by Counter-cade, Party Cade, and Head-to-Head.” In addition, “new Pac-Man games are in preparation for the end of 2020”, declares the Japanese firm. The Pac-Man license also benefits from new lines of goodies and even a song "Join The Pac" (see below). Finally, Bandai Namco announced that NVIDIA's artificial intelligence, GameGAN, will soon have the mission of completely recreating the original game by itself from 50000 games.
