Are you a Disney+ subscriber and you're annoyed that you can't (re)watch the MCU's Spider-Man installments? Head to Prime Video, which is welcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far from Home to its catalog on March 15. Yes, no No Way Home yet, we know, even if you can still rent it for a small additional fee.
While Jon Watts' camera may be the worst thing that has happened to Spider-Man, we can't help but appreciate these installments for the charm of our young hero embodied by Tom Holland. Infinitely likeable while being very different from his predecessors, the actor plays a rejuvenated version of Peter Parker with just the right amount of candor, as if the weight of his great power entailed great responsibilities that were far too heavy for his shoulders.
It's a shame that these films are never devoted solely to Spider-Man, adding Marvel friends like Iron Man in Homecoming and Nick Fury and Agent Hill in Far from Home. As if it were necessary to constantly remind ourselves that THIS Spidey is well integrated within the MCU, unlike the incarnations of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
That doesn't stop these two films from being perfect for a small family evening with a cast that really has fun in front of the camera, which creates a good, infectious mood around a superhero who is ultimately very sunny as he is treated here.
Waiting for Spider-Man 4 and... Miles Morales?
A catch-up session while Tom Holland, eager to let go of the spider costume, has already announced that Spider-Man 4 should be his last. However, we know that Spidey is still a property of Sony, who is lending him to Marvel for its Avengers in exchange for a (big) creative boost for the solo films. If we had to roughly summarize, it is Marvel Studios that makes the films, and it is Sony that pockets the money. A deal that begins to come to an end with Kevin Feige who would be more than happy to have his own Spider-Man.
A deal that no longer satisfies, an actor on the way out and a (soon) animated trilogy that has managed to install another possessor of the power of the spider in the hearts of the general public in the person of Miles Morales... you see where we are going with this? It is very likely that Miles will soon find a flesh and blood incarnation on the MCU side, Spidey 4 potentially serving as a transfer of power since it has been announced that it would be the beginning of a new series of three films. As for Sony, we can already bet on a fourth version of Peter Parker in the coming years.
