Twitch: a streamer breaks his back after an accident during the Twitchcon

This weekend, we were treated to several important events. While France enjoyed the GP Explorer, organized by Squeezie at the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans, the rest of the world had its eyes fixed on TwitchCon which took place at the convention center in San Diego, a famous place because it also hosts the San Diego Comic-Con. However, the event did not actually take place as expected for some...

On site, a streamer named Adriana Chechik, who turns out to be a former porn star, was seriously injured due to a bad fall. Filmed by the participants of the event, the video is now circulating on the networks, while the streamer recounts the consequences of this improvised stunt. The video is quite shocking, don't watch it if you are sensitive to injuries or falls.

Two fractures and an operation

It is immediately apparent that Adriana Chechik did indeed hurt herself badly in her fall. She later explains on Twitter that the after-effects are much more serious than they appear. She states: “I broke my back in two places and I am having surgery today to put a metal rod for support. Send your support.”

It turns out that the area actually belongs to Lenovo and that it is not so foreign to accidents. Indeed, Adriana Chechik is not the only one to have been tricked and several other participants explain having injured themselves during jumps, despite being encouraged by the context. We can see that the pool is filled with foam cubes, a structure that you find in many jump parks and even in some gymnastics training places.

In the TwitchCon one, two platforms were set up for participants to climb on and fight each other with foam weapons. The goal is to make your opponent fall into the moss-filled pit, after which the survivor jumps in. This is exactly what happened to Adriana Chechik, who quickly came face to face with the reality of the situation.

A blatant lack of safety

As can be seen in the footage of the event, the pit was clearly not deep enough, and the foam cubes were actually stacked directly at ground level. The streamer therefore jumped without worrying about its support in an area that was officially not meant for that... and it is now paying the consequences.

TwitchCon attendees who were scammed by the Lenovo booth say they feel cheated, and some are even claiming that Twitch will never have their trust again. After several accidents, one wonders how the area was able to stay open for so long. So questions about security still remain.
