Doesn't the idea of breaking the bank to recreate the elven city of Rivendell in your living room appeal to you? 6,167 bricks, 72cm long, and priced at €499.99: the imposing LEGO Lord of the Rings set launched in 2023 is far from affordable for most fans. The same goes for the Barad-d'ur kit, launched in 2024 at a price of €459.99. The manufacturer has therefore decided to complete its range with a slightly more reasonable new addition. And who better than the Hobbits for a scaled-down version that's still not lacking in charm. Moreover, LEGO even took care to invite a star from Peter Jackson's films.
A trailer with Sam Gamgee himself
The Hobbit and Gandalf minifigures come to life in an adorable trailer narrated by Sean Astin. The opportunity to discover the contents of this kit which already promises to delight geeks and other LEGO aficionados. This reproduction of the Shire will be made up of 2025 bricks, as well as nine iconic Hobbiton characters: Bilbo, Frodo, Mrs. Fierpied, Farmer Fierpied, Meriadoc, Peregrin, Rose Thatched, Sam Gamgee, and of course, Gandalf the Grey.
No detail has been overlooked, whether the most obvious, like Bilbo's house, or others like the scene from which the Elder orchestrates his disappearance. In fact, this construction will not lack interactive details of all kinds, such as a trapdoor to hide Bilbo, or even a burning letter to transform into the One Ring. As for the dimensions of the set, the product page indicates a length of 45cm, for only 27cm depth.
Where and when to buy the LEGO The Shire set?
The LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: The Shire set will be available to LEGO Insiders members at Starting April 2, 2025. General release will take place a few days later, from April 5 on the brand's online store as well as in official LEGO stores.
Hobbits are said to be half-men, so this new set will be worth (roughly) half of Rivendell. Expect to get the LEGO version of Hobbiton for €269.99. A more reasonable price, but still high. To sweeten the deal, buyers who upgrade to Checkout between April 2nd and 8th will receive a free LEGO Lord of the Rings Sméagol and Déagol set, while stocks last.
