Microsoft is preparing to launch today a new wave of tests concerning Cloud gaming. As we know, for a few weeks now, Xbox Insiders will be able to test and play Xbox games in the Cloud that are not part of Game Pass. Thus, Microsoft was soon to offer the possibility of playing your games, without installing them entirely on your console!
The Cloud: Xbox's main objective in the years to coming
For several years, Microsoft's strategy has been quite clear. The future of video games will not be on video game consoles, or at least, not on Xbox consoles. Between the abandonment of physical media, the big promotion of Game Pass, as well as the development of Cloud gaming, we already know which direction Microsoft is heading.
As of today, new tests are being launched concerning Cloud gaming precisely. Xbox players who are part of the Xbox Insiders program can test playing a list of games including Animal Well, Balatro, Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk2077 or Price of Persia: The Lost Crown which are not in the list of Game Pass games.
The only condition is to own these games. It will then be possible to do so without having to install them in their entirety. A feature that could be very useful when you see the size of game files these days. Thanks to this possibility, you can play them in streaming via the cloud, and many players could have a new solution to play faster or to avoid reaching a data limit on their console.
Microsoft specifies that this feature would allow you to play Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. The first tests have just been launched in the USA today and should be deployed more widely in the world next year.
