Xbox muscle his game of cloud gaming thanks to Nvidia

Microsoft and Nvidia have good news for Xbox gamers. The two companies, specialized in hardware and software, are also joining forces in the field of cloud gaming. Today, they are strengthening their collaboration in this area by integrating Nvidia's GeForce Now service into the Xbox store product pages. This new integration will allow gamers to choose between Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming service and Nvidia's GeForce Now service when they browse a game listing on the web.

This move is part of a broader strategy aimed at offering more flexibility and choice to gamers. Microsoft, which until now only offered its own cloud gaming service, is now adding an alternative, showing its commitment to opening up to “competitors”. It is the same state of mind that pushed the manufacturer to review its copy regarding game exclusives, and to release 4 on PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

A feature that will change your cloud gaming experience

Although the new “play with cloud” is not yet available, it is expected that it will either redirect to the GeForce Now homepage or launch the game directly via Nvidia's cloud gaming service. This integration is good news for gamers, as Nvidia GeForce Now, especially with its RTX 4080 subscription, is recognized as one of the most powerful cloud gaming services on the market. Nvidia claims that the latency is lower than that of an Xbox Series X running locally on a 60Hz TV.

It is worth noting that the feature is not necessarily supported for everyone. Cloud gaming is generally reserved for to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, which excludes cheaper plans. The other solution to take advantage of this new feature is to own games in their Microsoft Store version. Only the games you own are compatible with Nvidia, which is not a sales or on-demand games platform.
