It's now official, the Xbox PlayStation Anywhere program is now compatible with no fewer than 1,000 games! And it's far from over.
For those who aren't really familiar with the program, Xbox Play Anywhere is the feature that allows you to purchase an Xbox game, which can be played anywhere, on all devices: Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Smartphones and Tablets, and even via an app on Smart TVs. The icing on the cake is that saves are also compatible, allowing you to simply continue your game, regardless of your console.
Unfortunately, this excellent service once again suffers from poor communication from Microsoft and remains, quite frankly, well behind the times and little known by gamers. In the meantime, the program has just reached 1,000 compatible games.
The 1,000 Xbox Play Anywhere games
Launched in 2016, the catalog of the Xbox Play Anywhere program has continued to grow to grow, recently surpassing 1,000 games. This is clearly unique on the market, and no manufacturer can boast of offering the same service.
Xbox Play Anywhere is a Microsoft initiative that allows you to play supported games on PC and Xbox consoles, including achievement tracking and cross-saves. This program is really great because you only need to purchase these games once to access them on both platforms. To put it very simply, if you buy a game that is compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere, you actually get two copies for the price of one: the PC version and the Xbox version.
In nine years, no fewer than 1,000 games have joined the service. That's more than 900 per year. According to recent statements from Microsoft's vice president of next-gen, Jason Ronald, during an official Xbox podcast, more games will benefit from Play Anywhere support in the near future.
Among the cult games already compatible, we can mention games like No Man's Sky, Forza Horizon 5, Balatro, Sea of Thieves and Outer Wilds. Soon, other great classics will be added, such as South of Midnight, Claire Obscur: Expedition 33, Fable, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, and Atomfall.
For the moment, the Xbox Play Anywhere program is not really being promoted and even seems to be a little snubbed by Microsoft. However, if the rumors surrounding the Xbox Portable turn out to be true, there is a good chance that the service could take on a large scale. To be continued.
