Xiaomi is preparing to make a big splash in the electric SUV market with its YU7. Between its bold design and abundant customization options, the Chinese manufacturer seems to have concocted an interesting recipe to attract buyers looking for originality.
The Xiaomi YU7, the Chinese giant's second electric vehicle, is gradually being revealed. New leaks reveal details about its design and numerous customization options, hinting at a bold business strategy.
This electric SUV, which should be launched soon, relies on a distinctive style and a multitude of choices for buyers, including in the cabin according to some images, enough to overshadow the competition.
A design that doesn't go unnoticed
The YU7 sports a decidedly sporty design, with carbon touches on the rear spoiler, mirrors and headlights. The "Max" badge in red on some versions suggests a particularly powerful high-end version, perhaps the one announced at 691 horsepower in previous leaks.
Xiaomi has not skimped on the branding, with its "Mi" logo and its name in simplified Chinese visible in several places. A "Hyper Autonomous Driving" badge on the side suggests advanced autonomous driving capabilities.
But it is especially in terms of customization options that the YU7 will stand out. No fewer than 26 different wheel designs would be offered, including one model available in 20 colors. Enough to satisfy the most demanding buyers in terms of customization. The brake calipers would also be available in red or yellow, matching the body color, which we already know will be offered in navy blue.
Inside, the YU7 promises to be at the cutting edge of technology. A panoramic head-up display would replace the traditional instrument cluster, extending from one pillar to the other of the windshield.
In terms of performance, the YU7 would be equipped with a 96 kWh NCM battery, offering up to 770 km of range according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. The dual-motor version would develop a combined power of 508 kW, for a top speed of 253 km/h. The YU7 could quickly become a serious competitor for the Tesla Model Y and other players in the segment.
