Zelda Echoes of Wisdom reveals its latest subtleties before its launch

The start of the school year promises to be exciting on Nintendo Switch with the arrival of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. This surprise opus revealed during the summer Nintendo Direct last June will be available from September 26. In addition to the hype specific to each new installment of the cult franchise, this episode has continued to surprise since its announcement because Link will not be the hero. For the very first time (with the exception of a funny adventure on Philips CD-i), Princess Zelda will take on the role of protagonist to try to save her kingdom from an equally new threat.

After revealing the subtleties of this atypical title drop by drop, Nintendo has reserved a final trailer for us to better prepare for this imminent quest. During its presentation, Echoes of Wisdom emphasized its new echo mechanic, allowing you to duplicate objects and enemies. In a second trailer, we were able to analyze the new Hyrule map in more detail and discover two essential powers: teleportation beacons and the transport of objects via “Synchronization“. The Kyoto firm now invites us to discover the world of Nothingness, as well as a capacity of transformation into a swordsman who promises to offer a bit of Link to the Zelda moveset.

A vast title with infinite possibilities

The plains of Hyrule, the Gerudo desert or even the territory of the Zoras will not be the only areas to explore during this adventure. In order to push back the corruption that is spreading across the world, Zelda and her new sidekick Tri will have to venture into the rifts of the world of Nothingness. Each entrance leads to a different destination, it will be impossible to know what to expect before each dive. Some rifts will be full of puzzles, others of monsters or even dungeons combining the two. In this dimension, the echoes will be all the more important and their placement will have to be mastered to perfection to come to puzzles and fights.

Speaking of combat, Zelda will be able to take some of Link's skills to defend herself. The discovery of a mysterious sword in the world of the Void will allow the heroine to channel a swordsman's power for a few seconds and face her enemies in close combat. However, it will be necessary to recover energy fragments in the Void in order to recharge this power to be used only in the most dangerous situations.

The solutions to each problem are endless. Nintendo also promises us a wide variety of NPCs capable of helping us with additional mechanics such as the creation of defense robots. The trailer does not hesitate to reveal some unexpected strategies, like in this excerpt around 2 minutes where Zelda uses a bed in the middle of a boss fight to regain some hearts. And you, what crazy combinations are you already planning to try when The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom comes out on Nintendo Switch in a few weeks?
