Studios therefore want to continue to ride this trend and as Variety announced at the end of March, it is the turn of the game Split Fiction to have the right to a film adaptation.
With this title released on March 6, Hazelight Studios and Josef Fares have achieved a new success both in terms of sales (more than 2 million copies sold in the first week) and critics. As proof, on Steam the game has a 97% extremely favorable rating for more than 46,000 reviews. No wonder Hollywood wants to bring it to the big screen.
Split Fiction is a cooperative adventure game mixing combat and platforming challenges. Players embody two writers, one of whom specializes in science fiction and the other in fantasy, namely Mio and Zoe, who find themselves trapped in fictional universes that are the fruit of their imagination.

A few weeks ago, the American media announced that the adaptation project was presented to different studios. Today, everything seems to be going in the right direction since, still according to information from Variety, the project has found its director in the person of Jon M. Chu who directed Wicked and received 10 nominations at the 2025 Oscars.
The film will be produced by Story Kitchen, the company of Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson, as well as Electric Somewhere, Chu's production company.
