Do you find that your Android device's battery life is running low and that you have to recharge it too often? Don't panic: a little new feature allows you to increase battery life throughout the day.
Although many Android smartphones are capable of lasting more than two days without being recharged (we are thinking in particular of Xiaomi or Honor phones), the autonomy of some barely exceeds the day (here it is impossible not to mention the Samsung Galaxy S, even if it is a little improved with the Galaxy S25). And it's quite annoying, since you always have to take your charger with you or use an external battery whenever you're on the go.
A problem generally linked to the smartphone manufacturer and the software "overlay", but not only. Android can also be energy-intensive depending on the versions and services it includes. Fortunately, there's something new on this front.
The lifespan of Android devices extended thanks to this little-known new feature
Like every month, Android and its various services are updated. Thus, the update of Google System (one of Android's services) dated April 2025 offers various new features. Among them, there is an innovation that all Android smartphone users will greatly appreciate: an extension of battery life. While Google is stingy in terms of figures on the gain brought by this update, the Mountain View giant specifies that this update does not only concern smartphones, but all devices that use Google System and Google Play Services. This update also integrates the very latest version of Google Play services, which therefore arrive in their 25.13 edition. The Play Store, meanwhile, is moving to him in version 45.7.
Another new feature concerning this same edition 25.13 of Google Play services: connectivity has been improved between Android smartphones, Android Auto, PCs, TVs (probably under Android TV and Google TV, even if Google does not specify it) and Wear OS. Finally, as a last new feature, the Mountain View giant specifies that users can now add a pseudonym for their payment cards in Google Wallet on Android smartphones.
This important update This update is being rolled out to all Android smartphones, but it also depends on the manufacturer. To check if it is available and update the Google Play system, follow these steps:
- Go to the smartphone's Settings;
- Select the About phone option;
- Scroll down and select the Android version function;
- Go to Google Play system update;
- If an update is available, If an update is available, it will be instantly downloaded;
- Finally, to apply this update, you will need to restart the smartphone.
Finally, note that this update also includes a security update, which fixes 62 system vulnerabilities.
