Apple is preparing foldable products (iPhone, iPad and MacBook) what will they look like?

The rumors surrounding the foldable iPhone continue to circulate. The phone, which could arrive in our hands at the end of 2027, is highly anticipated. But the latest information about it suggests it won't be alone. Apple has filed several patents for a foldable computer since 2018. A tablet using this same technology is also regularly mentioned.

In February 2022, display analyst Ross Young assured that Apple is working on a 20-inch foldable display. He promised that it would be marketed in 2026 or 2027 at the latest. In July 2023, a new report confirmed that Samsung and LG had been approached by Apple to design this new type of display.

This huge 20-inch display could be used by Apple for a foldable MacBook. The computer would work with two screens, being 100% touch-sensitive. The lower part of the screen would then serve as a trackpad and keyboard. A fairly standard configuration, which should bring Apple computers and tablets a little closer together.

The folding revolution

According to several sources close to the Cupertino company, Apple would like to make its grand entrance into the world of folding smartphones. The Apple brand knows that it is several years behind its main competitors, Samsung first and foremost.

At the same time, it knows full well that folding smartphones are far from being in everyone's hands. The general public has not yet taken the plunge. Could the arrival of a foldable iPhone push them to buy? Nothing could be less certain. In any case, Apple seems to want to give itself the means to succeed.

The Cupertino company plans to pull out all the stops, offering not one but three foldable products during 2027. This major evolution in its design would affect the iPad, iPhone, and MacBook. With such a sudden change, Apple hopes to "force the hand" of its users.

Tough competition to beat

Technically, Apple will have a hard time beating its direct rivals. The Californian giant has years of development experience behind it. This market experience is crucial for promoting its product and avoiding classic technical pitfalls.

This hardware gap could be partially filled by the Cupertino teams, who are basing their designs on numerous other folding smartphones. The brand can also rely on its image and reputation. There's no doubt that Apple's marketing teams are already working on bringing such a product to market.
