Chinese giant BYD continues to surprise with an innovation that seems straight out of science fiction. Its latest high-end car model adopts a unique lateral displacement technology. This system makes urban parking easier than ever.
BYD is breaking sales records thanks to its electric vehicles with a particularly aggressive price-technology ratio. Some models, such as a recent ultra-fast charging sedan sold for €3,000 less than a Tesla Model 3, incorporate innovations still absent from the competition. The manufacturer offers advanced batteries, a new-generation electronic architecture, and high performance at a reasonable price. This aggressive positioning allows it to rise among the world leaders in the sector.
It is in this context that the group strengthens its presence in Europe with a new luxury electric car. Developed under the Denza brand, this model is aimed directly at premium brands such as Audi, Mercedes and BMW. It is based on a completely new platform that introduces moving functions never before seen on a production model.
The Denza Z9 GT parks in a parking space thanks to a platform with three independent motors
Based on the “e3“ platform, the Denza Z9 GT uses a unique architecture with three independent electric motors. Two to The rear axles are coupled to a differential, while the front one is connected to wheels capable of pivoting separately. Thanks to this system, it can move laterally, perform rotations on the spot or even advance diagonally with an angle of 15°. Despite its imposing dimensions (5.2 meters long, 3.13 meters wheelbase), the latter can turn around within a radius of only 4.62 meters. These capabilities allow for parallel parking in tight spaces effortlessly.
The platform also incorporates active suspension from the Yangwang U9 sports model, allowing you to drive even with one wheel unusable. Each shock absorber is individually controlled, which also improves stability on the road. Compatible with Blade batteries, it allows for fast charging and long range. Plug-in hybrid versions are planned from 2026 for Europe. The Denza Z9 GT will also benefit from BYD's autonomous driving system, a set of sensors and software that controls advanced functions such as lane keeping, automatic braking and assisted steering.
