Diablo 4 will soon end its Season 7, or the second season since the release of its first major DLC, Vessel of Hatred. This clearly marks a change in Blizzard's approach to communicating about its flagship hack'n'slash game. On the franchise's official website, the studio has revealed in minute detail its roadmap for the coming months, or even the next year, while we wait for its second major DLC. Let's take a closer look.
Diablo 4's hell is paved with of free content and a new DLC
While Vessel of Hatred was added to Diablo 4 last October, you should know from the outset that the next DLC will not arrive this year. The roadmap shared by Blizzard indicates that it will finally be released during 2026. The studio also gives us a glimpse of some features that will arrive in the title next year, such as a new ranking system.
Until then, however, the Diablo 4 teams want to keep the heroes of Sanctuary busy. This is thanks to three new free Seasons, of which we already know the name, and therefore potentially the theme. We therefore have respectively " The Return of Belial ", " The Sins of the Horadrim " and " Infernal Chaos". The upcoming Season 8 will therefore mark the return of the Lord of Lies from Diablo 3. We are being promised for this season boss powers, quests, a reputation system, incursion activities and a new pet to recover, among other things. We should also expect a new collaboration, and an event to celebrate Diablo 4's two-year anniversary.
The next two free Seasons of Diablo 4 will introduce horadric powers and chaotic powers respectively. We also note some rather good news coming to console players as part of Season 9: keyboard/mouse support. Now it remains to be seen what the new mechanics of the next Seasons to come to Diablo 4 will be, while we wait to discover what story its second DLC will tell us. Here's hoping it doesn't end on a criminal cliffhanger yet again.
