The world of video games has no shortage of cult franchises. However, not all of them manage to endure over time. One of the founding works of the FPS genre, Doom is one of those that still stands out today as benchmarks. The next installment, The Dark Ages, even promises to bring something new by rethinking its gameplay. The new trailer gives us a glimpse that should please fans of the saga.
Doom The Dark Ages hits hard in its new trailer
Bethesda and id Software are ready to smash the screen with Doom The Dark Ages. With a new trailer, the publisher and the studio immerse us in the medieval universe of this long-awaited prequel to the 2016 opus. As announced, this new episode will tell the origin story of the famous Slayer. To do this, the teams have chosen a completely new setting for a license that until now has focused less on dark fantasy than on science fiction.
But, this is not the only change that Doom The Dark Ages promises players. In fact, for this new story, id Software is taking the risk of revising its gameplay. In the last installments, the studio had accustomed us to a frenetic pace. So, put your sneakers away, the DOOM Guy is going to play it slow-mo for this return to his roots.
No more speed with Doom The Dark Ages. As the new trailer shows, this opus will turn your avatar into a real tank, the heaviness. Like a knight, this good old Slayer will be decked out with a shield. As you might expect, this accessory imposes a completely different dynamic than what you experienced in 2016 or, subsequently, with Eternal. However, the game will pack a punch! The brutal side that made the identity of the license will still be as present.
If the experience tempts you, the countdown will soon approach Doom The Dark Ages is coming to an end. The game will be released on May 15, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. What's more, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to enjoy it day one depending on their subscription plan.
