Like father, like son, as they say, and that also goes for outfits. Like Goku, Gohan has a well-stocked wardrobe. Here are, in our opinion, the 8 best outfits he's worn in Dragon Ball.
#1 Gohan in Kaio Shin Outfit
During his training on the Kaio planet, Gohan wore the traditional outfit of the gods. It may seem strange at first glance, but it suits him quite well. We already feel, through this garment, that he is about to reach a whole new level of power, and it certainly did. The notable detail of the outfit is the sword. It's a shame he couldn't keep it, even if it had to break in order to become very powerful.
#2 The Kung Fu Outfit
Before the Cell Game, Gohan wore a traditional kung fu outfit for a week, creating a striking contrast with Goku's more casual outfit. However, this clothing choice is not insignificant. Seeing it, one can only think of Bruce Lee. The outfit is in fact identical to the one the actor wears in Dragon Run, a film that is also centered on a tournament. Akira Toriyama certainly wanted to pay homage to Bruce Lee while showing that Gohan had reached the level of master.
#3 Gohan on a scooter
In an illustration by Toriyama, it is possible to see Gohan riding a scooter with his father sitting behind him. The teenager is wearing a new outfit: a hoodie and shorts, modern clothes for his age that he rarely wore. He didn't have an ordinary childhood, so it's nice to see him in such a simple and normal outfit.
#4 Piccolo's Outfit
Even though his father is Goku, Piccolo also played a key role in Gohan's education. The Namekian trained him several times, to the point of almost shaping him in his own image. Gohan will therefore, throughout all the arcs, wear Piccolo's iconic outfit. He probably wears it best in the Cell arc. This purple outfit has also become inseparable from his transformation into Super Saiyan 2.
#5 Ultimate Gohan
Before facing Super Buu, Gohan chooses to wear his father's colors. He thus resembles Goku more than ever. Even if the outcome of the fight is not as hoped, we see in this gesture the desire to definitively pass the torch. By putting on Goku's emblematic orange Gi, Gohan takes his place and confirms, for a moment, that he is the hero of the Earth.
#6 Future Gohan
In Trunks' future, Gohan wears Goku's outfit, except that it is clearly different from Ultimate Gohan's. The sleeves reach the elbows, the belt is not the same... But what changes the most is the Saiyan's appearance. With his messy hair, scar, and missing arm, Gohan exudes unparalleled presence.
#7 The Great Saiyaman outfit without a helmet or cape
Gohan may look ridiculous when he's in Great Saiyaman, but in reality, it's probably one of his best outfits. When he takes off his helmet and cape and transforms into Super Saiyan 2, he becomes one of the most stylish characters in Dragon Ball. Special mention to his black version, without the green Gi, which further enhances his charisma.
#8 Gohan's first design for the Buu arc
While working on the Buu arc, Toriyama made several sketches of Gohan. One of them shows him with the same hairstyle as in the Cell arc, and wearing a jacket. The main inspiration clearly seems to be Trunks, and it wasn't a bad idea, quite the contrary. It would have been a very nice nod to Vegeta's son and to Future Gohan's story with him.
