Numbered v16.14.39, it integrates a feature dedicated to Gemini Live and directly inspired by another that many have been using regularly since its introduction in early 2024: Circle to search. As a reminder, it allows you, as its name suggests, to draw a circle around a displayed element on the mobile screen so that the AI can perform a precise search.

The option will take the form of an icon representing a pencil. You can place it anywhere you want on the smartphone screen so that it does not bother you. After pressing it, you can circle or point at a part of what is displayed (by drawing an arrow for example) to ask Gemini something about what you have highlighted in this way. The point is to be able to make the AI focus on a particular element and not on everything it “sees”.

For example, you can read an article about a smartwatch and ask Gemini to summarize it for you. Then you circle a photo of the watch and ask a more specific question about it.
