Harry Potter: Pedro Pascal attacks J.K. Rowling, Internet users defend her

Whether you support her or attack her, J.K. Rowling leaves no one indifferent. The Harry Potter author has defended her opinion on the trans issue for several years, favoring X to share her ideas. She recently celebrated the UK Supreme Court's decision to exclude trans women from the legal definition of "woman" in photos, which sparked a strong reaction from Pedro Pascal.

Cigarillo in mouth, glass of alcohol in hand, sunset in the background: in this photo, posted by J.K. Rowling's April 16th, sums up the writer's satisfaction with the UK Supreme Court's decision. On the same day, the country's highest court unanimously ruled that a transgender woman cannot legally be considered a woman, a term based solely on biological sex. The association "For Women Scotland" was heavily involved in this decision, which has been in dispute with the Scottish government since 2018 over the interpretation of the UK's 2010 Equality Act. Women activists to whom J.K. Rowling also paid tributefor their courage.

It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they’ve protected the rights of women and girls across the UK. @ForWomenScot, I’m so proud to know you https://t.co/JEvcScVVGS

A decision celebrated by some, denounced by others

This decision by the United Kingdom will have repercussions across the world. As for J.K. Rowling, her clear positions, described by some as "transphobic," regularly earn her attacks from personalities. An actress from the series Bridgerton attacked the novelist, and now it is the turn of Pedro Pascal, the star of The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, to react to the writer's statements. On Instagram, activist Tariq Raouf called for a mass boycott of Harry Potter:

The general public has made it their mission to ensure that everything related to Harry Potter fails... because this horrible, disgusting mess has consequences.

In the comments, we can find support from Pedro Pascal:

A horrible, disgusting mess, that's exactly it. Heinous LOSER behavior.

The actor is particularly sensitive to the cause of transgender people because his little sister, Lux Pascal, belongs to this community. At the London premiere of Thunderbolts*, in theaters next Wednesday, he wore a "Protect The Dolls" T-shirt, a reference to the nickname given by LGBTQ+ people to transgender people. But J.K. Rowling doesn't only have detractors: support is pouring in from everywhere. In the United States, Elon Musk reacted to the writer's post with flame emojis, and many internet users are thanking her.

The greatest modern British woman is without a doubt JK Rowling.

A heroine to women and girls everywhere. April 22, 2025

The greatest modern British woman is undoubtedly JK Rowling. A hero for women and girls around the world.

JK Rowling was hounded, smeared, and cast out for daring to defend women’s rights—but she never flinched.

Today, she won outright. And because she stood firm, so did women everywhere.

Be like JK: never grovel, never waver, and never surrender your principles. pic.twitter.com/9JVhCxXGqz

JK Rowling was hounded, vilified, and shunned for daring to stand up for women's rights, but she never wavered. Now, she has won every fight. And because she stood her ground, so have women everywhere. Be like JK: never crawl, never waver, and never give up on your principles.

The debate surrounding the transgender issue is far from over, and there's no doubt we'll continue to talk about it on Hitek!
