As you may know, Microsoft has been trying to introduce Game Pass everywhere it can for a few years now. The idea is to allow as many users as possible to experience the joys of "Netflix" video gaming, even if they don't have Xbox consoles at home.

Samsung was Microsoft's first partner in 2022. Via Xbox Cloud Gaming, owners of Samsung Smart TVs launched between 2021 and today can therefore enjoy Game Pass directly on their TV. In 2024, the Redmond firm then signed another agreement with Amazon to integrate Game Pass into the Fire Stick ecosystem. Since then, all you need is a Fire Stick 4K Max or a Fire TV Stick 4K to access the gaming platform.

After Samsung, it's LG TVs' turn to welcome Game Pass

And as Microsoft announced at CES 2025, it's LG Smart TVs' turn to welcome Game Pass. Starting today, the Xbox app is available on several LG smart TV models. According to a Microsoft press release, this new feature This update applies to “2022 LG OLED TVs, select 2023 LG Smart TV models, and newer models, including MyView Smart Monitors running WebOS 24 or later.” The Stand By Me display will also be supported soon.

With this update, users will be able to enjoy hundreds of games available on Game Pass Ultimate, such as the recently released Oblivion remaster, Awowed, South of Midnight, and the highly anticipated Doom Dark Ages, scheduled for release on May 15. To enjoy the experience, however, you will need to check a few criteria:

  • have a compatible LG TV
  • have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription
  • have a Bluetooth controller, such as the Xbox Wireless Controller, the Xbox Adaptive Controller, the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller or the PlayStation DualSense controller

If all these conditions are met, you will then simply need to turn on your TV, access the LG Gaming portal via the Gaming Q-Card on the home page, then launch the Xbox application to start playing.
