During the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, fans of the brand may have been surprised not to see a new big Mario game unveiled. Our favorite mustachioed plumber will indeed take the wheel for MK World, the next iteration of the racing game license. But, some thought they would see an "Odyssey 2" coming. Instead, Donkey Kong will be the star of the first major first-party adventure game on the new console. However, the Big N's most iconic mascot hasn't said his last word.
A new adventure for Mario on Nintendo Switch 2?
The Nintendo Switch 2 will mark a turning point in the brand's history, that's for sure. A new era of gaming is dawning, so the way the console's line-up is designed could be different from what we've seen in recent years. Although a new Mario Kart was expected, the absence of a new 2D or 3D platform game may still be surprising. It must be said that the presentation of the machine placed more emphasis on games developed by third-party publishers.
Don't panic, though! The Nintendo Switch 2 can't do without the traditional Super Mario adventure game. Doug Bowser wouldn't disagree. The head of the American branch of Big N recently spoke to CNN and was rather reassuring about the exploitation of the brand's iconic licenses:
Stay tuned. We have a long, long catalog, and a long list [of intellectual property, editor's note] that I'm sure will make its way onto the platform.
Doug Bowser, for CNN.
Bowser obviously remains very evasive at a time when the Nintendo Switch 2 is still preparing its arrival. Nevertheless, he does not dampen the enthusiasm of players. This seems like a good omen. Especially since eight years after the release of Super Mario Odyssey, the EPD team was able to be mobilized for Donkey Kong Bananza. But, with her upcoming release, she could devote herself entirely to her work. a new episode of the heroic plumber.
