One of the best cargo bikes on the market has a successor. Released in 2022, the Moustache Lundi 20 has a new version. This one takes many of the ingredients that made the first model a success and inundates it with more or less significant improvements, some of which come from feedback from early users.
This Lundi 20 (2025) doesn't just replace its predecessor. As we'll see, it redefines the Vosges brand's catalog and aims to establish itself as the best electric cargo bike for the long term. But how did Moustache operate?
The front of the bike is shaken up, the rear remains the same
The return to the drawing board was probably short-lived. At first glance, the silhouette of the new Lundi 20 resembles in many ways the one that shook up the cargo landscape in 2022. Only at first glance, because even in terms of design, the changes are numerous and they are mainly located on the front part of the cargo ship.
The most notable, without doubt, is the disappearance of one of the two diagonal tubes. Now, there is only one, wider and, according to Moustache, more rigid than the two it replaces. Result: stepping over is easier and the battery will fit along the seat tube.
Second major change: the front wheel accommodates a suspension fork. Here again, this was a recurring request from users and it took three years for their wish to be granted. The reason? Moustache simply couldn't find a fork model that lived up to its standards, and for good reason: for 20-inch wheels, the only models available until now were undersized. Suntour has since worked hard, and it was only natural that the French brand turned to its usual supplier to enhance its cargo. It is on this fork that a quick-stop system from AXA is integrated. Above, we notice the presence of a new luggage rack. It will be offered as standard and completes an offer that until now consisted of two very different models.
The handlebar, the famous "moustache," has also evolved somewhat and is now connected on both sides by a side bar. This is mainly used to accommodate accessories such as a smartphone grip to help with navigation. It must be said that this aspect was a pain with the previous version and its Intuvia screen which occupied most of the space in the middle of the handlebars.
At the rear, if the design does not change, we notice the arrival of a new kickstand that we will not hesitate to call a small revolution. This one was designed in-house and adapts perfectly to the cargo. It allows you to park the e-bike with a simple gesture of the foot supported by your hand, which requires much less effort than before. To leave, it is also much simpler, once you understand how the unlocking kick works. Here again, the improvement is notable and addresses one of the relative weaknesses of the initial cargo.
For the rest, the fundamentals of the Lundi 20 recipe are maintained. This is the case with the telescopic and suspended seatpost or the choice to cover almost the entire rear wheel and chain in order to protect the feet of small passengers in the back. On this new version, Moustache decided to switch to Magura brakes, hydraulic disc brakes (200 mm) which one would have assumed would integrate the Bosch ABS system. Failed!
All of these aesthetic changes lead to another, less visible one. The bike's carrying capacity increases significantly. The new Lundi 20 can carry up to 200 kg, including 70 kg on the rear.
The Bosch Smart System is a game-changer
The other almost invisible but essential modification concerns the motorization. Moustache has called on Bosch as usual, integrating the specific Active Line Cargo motor from the German equipment manufacturer. This is accompanied by the Purion 200 display, which fits perfectly on the left side of the handlebars.
In addition to offering a unified system around the ebike Flow application, this switch to the Smart System is accompanied by two new battery packs. Buyers will now have the choice between a 545 Wh battery and an 800 Wh battery.
In addition to these structural new features, there are other, more formal ones. So, this new version of Moustache's cargo ship will no longer be exclusively black. A new beige colorway marks the 2025 edition, but that's not all. From now on, the French brand offers the possibility of personalizing its cargo bike, with stickers to stick on the down tube.
A complete range of electric cargo bikes
The arrival of this new version of Lundi 20 does not completely eliminate the old one. Moustache will keep its original frame to develop a more accessible offer on its cargo range. Equipped with a new sky blue color and the Bosch Smart System, this Lundi 20.1 will represent the entry-level model in the catalog at 3999 euros.
You will therefore have to go beyond 4000 euros to be able to get your hands on the new version of the Lundi 20, which will be available in two trim levels: Lundi 20 Cargo 3 and Lundi 20 Cargo 5. For this new version, prices range from 4699 euros (Lundi 20 Cargo 3 unequipped) to 6199 euros for the Lundi 20 Cargo 5 equipped with the Enviolo automatic transmission and an 800 Wh battery. Between the two, the equipped version with a Shimano Cues transmission (9 speeds) at 4999 euros, seems to us to be one of the most balanced, even if the prices remain particularly high.
Having become a key player in the cargo market, the Lundi 20 therefore has a worthy successor. This one seems to be, on paper, a good synthesis of the successes of the first model mixed with well-considered improvements that could really improve the overall proposition. Three years later, Moustache would dream of doing it again. But is it still possible in a more difficult economic context for the sector and which has just lost its best incentive to purchase, the ecological bonus.
