Netflix simplifies access to languages and subtitles on televisions

Choosing subtitles and the audio track language for a Netflix series or movie is a strangely complicated operation on TVs. You have to go through several menus, and if you're looking for a slightly exotic language or dubbing, you have to dig even deeper!

The end of the subtitle and dubbing puzzle on TVs

This is all the more strange since the operations are infinitely simpler and more efficient in iOS and Android apps, and even from a web browser. Netflix has finally rolled up its sleeves and completely redesigned the selection interface for small living room screens.

All audio languages and subtitle files are now accessible from a single panel in drop-down lists. Sure, it can be a bit time-consuming if the video contains a lot of them, but at least you have everything in front of you without having to rummage through submenus. Display options remain available to adjust subtitles as desired.

Netflix, with over 300 million subscribers worldwide, must serve linguistically diverse populations. So it's only natural for the platform to offer many multilingual options — nearly a third of the content viewed on the service isn't in English. And many popular programs haven't been filmed in English, even if it was just Squid Game (South Korea) or Lupin (France).
