Nintendo Switch 2: The Recap of the Great Conference with Huge Surprises

Nintendo Switch 2: The Recap of the Great Conference with Huge Surprises

The presentation of a new console is always an event not to be missed! Big N has therefore seen things in a big way for its Nintendo Switch 2. With a one-hour conference dedicated to the presentation of the machine and its first new features—including games, as you might expect—we can say that the manufacturer is determined to make a big splash once again. Relive with us the highlights of the big Nintendo Direct.

The Nintendo Switch 2 plays the novelty card

Nintendo's new console has shown off its new features compared to its big sister. Thus, several rumors have been confirmed. For example, the Joy-Con will indeed be able to be used as a mouse. In addition, the microphone will be well integrated into the console with a brand new chat system in the Big N ecosystem.

New accessories were also presented. Motion-gaming will once again be in the spotlight with an exclusive camera. New controllers are also planned, including a pro model that will delight those who want to play even more comfortably.

But the good surprise is in the console's performance! Against all expectations, the Nintendo Switch 2 will offer 4K and will be able to run certain games up to 120 frames per second (with a lower resolution, of course). All of this will be offered at a price of €469.99 for a release on June 5, 2025.

Nintendo Switch 2: The Recap of the Great Conference with Huge Surprises

The first games for the new Nintendo console are announced

The conference opened in style with the highly anticipated Mario Kart 9, officially titled “World”. This new installment promises to thoroughly renew the experience, drawing inspiration from a certain Forza Horizon 5 along the way. As for in-house licenses, the new Hyrule Warriors also gave us chills by presenting itself as a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom. Let's not forget Kirby, who returns for an amazing adventure... of racing! But, the big surprise is the brand new open-world Donkey Kong game.

Third-party publishers also showed up in force, and that's an understatement! FromSoftware was clearly the headliner of this conference with the port of Elden Ring and, above all, the official announcement of its new game: The Duskbloods, which will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. As the leaks had predicted, we will also return to Night City with a port of Cyberpunk 2077. Without going into exhaustive details, we will have the pleasure of finding Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, Hades 2 and even Yakuza 0 on the new console. It is therefore a huge opening to recent third-party catalogs!

The Nintendo Direct took the opportunity to present the first examples of first-party games that will be entitled to a “Nintendo Switch 2 edition”. We got a glimpse of Super Mario Party Jamboree, as well as Zelda Breath of the Wild and its sequel. This revealed that these will not only be graphical updates, but will also add console-specific features such as camera support.
