Ubisoft has finally announced the release date of its open-world game Star Wars Outlaws on the Nintendo Switch 2. This announcement comes a few weeks after the reveal of the Switch 2 launch, scheduled for June 5, 2025.
Star Wars Outlaws finally arrives on Nintendo
When it was released at the end of 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Star Wars Outlaws had provoked mixed reactions. While some praised the game's ambition and immersive universe, others lamented some slowness in the gameplay. In any case, Nintendo players felt forgotten. Indeed, the game was not available on the original Switch.
But those days are over. The publisher has confirmed that the game will arrive on the new console on September 4, 2025. Dedicatedly, Ubisoft now seems to be betting on the power of the Switch 2 to revive the Outlaws experience in good conditions. And the first gameplay visuals running on the console are promising.

Convincing images on the Switch 2
Furthermore, Ubisoft seems to have worked seriously on this version. The official @StarWarsOutlaws account shared a short sequence of the game running on Switch 2. At first glance, the fluidity is good, the textures are clean and the galactic atmosphere is well transcribed. In any case, this first glimpse has the merit of reassuring the most skeptical.
This is also excellent news for Nintendo, because the Switch 2 could finally welcome titles previously reserved for competing consoles. Thus, this port perhaps marks the beginning of a new era for fans of AAA games on portable consoles.
A new DLC for May 2025
At the same time, the publisher has launched a free demo of Star Wars Outlaws on Xbox, PS5, Steam and Epic Games. This version allows players to explore the game's universe for 3 hours. Enough to get an idea before investing the 70 euros requested for the full game. To date, the demo has not yet been confirmed for Switch 2. But its arrival seems likely.
Note that this free demo, launched several months after the game's official release, is quite unusual. Ubisoft undoubtedly wants to expand its player base and attract the most hesitant. At the same time, the company is capitalizing on the renewed interest generated by the announcements of the Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Ubisoft also announced the release of a DLC titled A Pirate’s Fortune in May 2025. This additional content promises new missions and storylines for fans of the Star Wars universe. With this initiative, Ubisoft is clearly looking to revive the enthusiasm around Star Wars Outlaws, especially on a new mainstream platform.
