Nintendo Switch 2: Which games will be truly exclusive?

Nintendo is soon moving to its next generation. The company has unveiled in detail its Nintendo Switch 2, the console that is supposed to revolutionize the market 8 years after the release of its very first version. While the technical specifications aren't exactly there, players are hoping the manufacturer will make up for it in terms of games, whether exclusive or not.

Unlike previous generational upgrades, Nintendo isn't changing the cartridge port on its console. This means that all titles from the current Nintendo Switch (or almost) will be playable on Nintendo Switch 2. However, any new machine needs a clear and enticing pool of exclusives, and many titles were mentioned during the presentation. Between backward compatibility, optimized games, and exclusives, it's easy to get lost. Which games will be truly exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, and when are their release dates?

Mario Kart World

It's a must-have. Every new console has its own Mario Kart, and the World edition is aimed at all seasoned players and fans of crazy races. Nintendo is introducing a ton of new characters, customization via skins, but also 24-player competitions and plenty of new maps. The biggest new feature remains the introduction of the open world, which is already shaping up to be a key feature for multiplayer gaming. Released on June 5th, alone or bundled with the console.

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour

This launch game accompanies the long-awaited arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 with a collection of colorful mini-games, designed to highlight the console's new features. Ideal for multiplayer play, Welcome Tour is a festive gateway to the new Nintendo generation. Unlike Astro's Playroom on PS5, this game is not free and you will have to pay to get it. Released June 5th.

Survival Kids

A modern reboot of the classic survival adventure game, Survival Kids drops you onto a mysterious island after a shipwreck. Alone or in local co-op, learn to survive, explore, and build in a hostile environment where every decision can change the course of your adventure. Released June 5th.

Donkey Kong Bananza

In this explosive new adventure, Donkey Kong and his gang leave the jungle to take on a mechanized tropical kingdom. A blend of 2.5D platforming and rhythm gameplay, Bananza promises a muscular and festive return of the Nintendo icon, but not in time for the launch of the Switch 2. Released on July 17.

Drag x Drive

Futuristic racing and urban brawling merge in Drag x Drive, an arcade racing game with a neon style and customizable cars. Challenge your rivals in dynamic arenas where speed, drifting, and special weapons are your best allies for victory. Mouse mode will be particularly popular for this title inspired by disabled sports. Release Window Summer 2025.

Hyrule Warriors: The Sealed Chronicles

A new canon entry in the Zelda universe, The Sealed Chronicles explores the origins of an ancient conflict forgotten in Hyrule. Play as new heroes and face hordes of enemies in an epic saga combining strategy, action, and secrets from the past, with the artistic direction of the Breath of the Wild saga. Zelda will be the main playable character. Release Window Winter 2025.

Kirby Air Riders

Kirby returns to the racetracks in a frenetic and colorful air racer. Taking up the cult concept of Kirby Air Ride, this new opus lets you fly, dash and suck up your opponents on crazy courses, solo or with others, locally or online. Release window set for 2025 without further details.

The Duskbloods

Developed by From Software (Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Dark Souls), The Duskbloods is the latest game we saw making its way exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2. Dive into a dark and gothic narrative RPG where you play as one of the Duskbloods, a line of cursed warriors torn between light and darkness. In this world torn apart by supernatural conflicts, your choices will forge the fate of an empire on the brink of collapse. Release window set for 2026.
