Losing a character can be, depending on the context, both traumatic and satisfying. Sometimes, it's also frustrating, even unfair, especially when a character dies prematurely. Unfortunately, this is quite common. Here are 7 characters who truly left too soon.
#1 King Cold - Dragon Ball
Freeza's race is mysterious, so much so that it doesn't really have an official name. All we know is that it has two canonical representatives: Frieza and his father, King Cold. While the former is well-known, the latter remains rather enigmatic. When he first appeared, we could have expected him to be a considerable threat to our heroes, except that Trunks cut short this hope. Cold could have given us more details about his race and shown us his power. Instead, Akira Toriyama took a different direction. It was, in the end, the right choice, but it's still a shame not to know more about him.
#2 Haku - Naruto
Naruto started off very strong with the Land of Waves arc, immediately laying the foundations for a ruthless ninja world, especially for teenagers. Haku didn't have an easy childhood, but he found a semblance of love with Zabuza, even if the latter didn't understand it until later. Unfortunately, both lost their lives tragically, and it's all the sadder for Haku. He never had the chance to live his life to the fullest, nor to develop the full potential of his Kekkei Genkai. Under other circumstances, he could have become a very powerful ally for Naruto, and we would have loved to see that. #3 Star and Stripe - My Hero Academia ... Star and Stripe were just sent to the den by the lion by fighting Shigaraki, and even then, that doesn't justify such a quick exit. She at least deserved to meet All Might, her role model, before passing away.
#4 Kuina - One Piece
This is an event that is hard to accept for many One Piece fans. Kuina was Zoro's rival, but she lost her life after falling down the stairs. The simplicity of this tragedy has led the community to theorize a lot about it. Some believe she is still alive, others that she took her own life. Many still believe that Eiichiro Oda made a mistake. We appreciate the message behind this loss, which brings us back to our poor status as human beings, and also the impact it had on Zoro, but we clearly would have liked to see more. Nothing prevented this tragedy from happening later in the story.
#5 Caesar Zeppeli - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Caesar Zeppeli could only follow his grandfather William's fate by losing his life. This event occurs in a cult moment that all fans of the anime remember. Joseph Joestar's legendary "Caesar!" still resonates in our hearts. Despite this, we can't help but think that Caesar didn't get the development he deserved. The character still had a lot to offer, especially in his relationship with Joseph.
#6 Junpei Yoshino - Jujutsu Kaisen
This is a rather unique character. Junpei made a lasting impression on viewers, even though he remains almost insignificant on the scale of Jujutsu Kaisen. The fact is that he is extremely well-written with a nuanced personality. We remember his conversation with Mahito, which was very interesting, or even his brief exchanges with Itadori. We would have been curious to follow his evolution throughout the story, but Gege Akutami decided otherwise.
#7 Rengoku - Demon Slayer
Rengoku is one of the great successes of Demon Slayer. Through his kindness, he was able to directly touch the hearts of fans. It is precisely for this reason that it was painful not to see him survive his fight against Akaza. It is a very premature event for a character whose flame we would have liked to see burn longer.
