Pokémon Legends Z-A: These Mega Evolutions Will Change Type

Pokémon Legends Z-A: These Mega Evolutions Will Change Type

After revealing the number of new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a well-known leaker in the video game industry, and whose previous revelations have been confirmed, reveals the Pokémon that will change type when they become gigantic.

26 new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

This is one of the main interests of Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Mega Evolutions. Back since Pokémon X and Y, and increased to 48 since Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, rumors have been heard announcing 26 new mega-evolutions to come, including a strong representation from the regions of Kanto (1st generation: Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow), Unova (5th generation, Pokémon Black and White) or Kalos (6th generation, Pokémon X and Y).

Yes, for those who were hoping for it, Dracolosse should indeed be entitled to its transformation. Furthermore, Centro Leaks (X account specialized in leaking information about Pokémon), confirms that Empiflor will also be on this short list. Typhlosion, on the other hand, will remain on the sidelines.

4 Pokémon will change types

The other question that intrigues fans is which Pokémon will change types when they transform. Currently, of the 48 Mega Evolutions contained in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, only Charizard (Form X), Altaria, Scizor Elecsprint, Mawile, and Pinsir change types, or add a new one.

Well according to Centro Leaks, four Pokémon (out of 26) will change types. The insider suggests that:

  • Clefable will benefit from the Flying type, in addition to its basic Fairy type
  • Meganium will add the Fairy type to its Grass type
  • Aligatr will have the dual Water and Dragon type
  • Golgopath will swap the Water type for the Fighting type (it will therefore keep its Rock type).

The only new Megas that change typings:

- Clefable - Fairy/Flying
- Meganium - Grass/Fairy
- Feraligatr - Water/Dragon
- Barbaracle - Rock/Fighting

The rest preserve their original types.

For their part, neither Pokémon Company nor Game Freak have confirmed this leak. It is therefore appropriate to take this information with a certain lightness. No doubt many players would have liked to see more type changes. But there is a reason for this apparent reluctance. If too many Pokémon changed types, it would give certain creatures (like Mega Charizard X) a huge advantage, thus unbalancing the game's meta.

In addition to changing types, some Pokémon change their design or description. Remember that Houndoom gets its stats boosted when it Mega Evolves, as do Beedagnant and Camerupt. As for Branette, it has a huge offensive boost.

For its part, Blastoise gets a huge cannon grafted onto its back, while Manectric's hairs stand on end. Mawile, finally, has bigger jaws. While Centro Leak doesn't reveal which Pokémon will change their design or description in the next Pokémon game, fans are already speculating about which creatures will be modified. We'll have to wait and see what the studio has in store for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which, as a reminder, is due to arrive on Nintendo Switch (and later on Nintendo Switch 2) at the end of the year, with no further details available at this time.
